Hatred and Envy?

I'll grant him hatred, though a better word would be contempt. But why on Earth would the West feel envy toward the Islamic world? I've racked my brains trying to think of an advantage Islamic countries enjoy over stable, liberal democracies. It's possible a sober man might regard a violent, antisocial drunk at a party with envy, knowing that without a hangover in the morning, his condition cannot improve markedly over the course of the next day. That's about it. Does anyone have any suggestions (apart from the 72 raisins that await martyrs to the faith of course)?

How's that?

Any time Hilali says anything that seems wrong or weird, Keysar Trad says that Hilali was taken out of context.

You'd be surprised, Sam, at just what I'd be willing to do for 72 raisins. I mean, for 71 I'd be facing some serious moral dilemmas, but 72..... ZOMFG.

Umm.... I like Islamic architecture......

Granted, but does it make us envious?

Well, not as much as the 72 raisins, that's for sure......

All right, well apart from the 72 raisins, Islamic architecture, the Dome of the Rock ( so beautiful it needs a separate category), the place holder digit 0, keeping the light of knowledge alive during the 1000 year dark ages of the Christian interregnum, a relatively liberal Muslim conquest of Andulusia which is still remembered fondly by the region's Jewish population, 996 of the 1001 Arabian nights tales, Middle Eastern music and the sexy belly dance, what have the Muslims ever done for us?

Well, they gave you something to blog about.... and made possible the wonderful "Where's Bin Laden?" game. I do so love that one....
